The Operator
Kaezen Shaw is a GTA-based cinematography focused creative, who dislikes third-person About Me pages and will be now switching to first-person.
Rhythm is at the centre of my approach to storytelling. My approach to video and film stems from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences and a general theme of change and reiteration, but my formative creative years were spent as a drummer. Everything has its pace, pauses, and patterns, and that lens is applied to my cinematography every day.
As an artist, I have always been attracted to the merger of technical and taste in the process of creation, and you could find me manning my own improvised recording station at the back of a concert hall far more often than you would see me standing under the spotlight on the stage. While I can play the part of the performer, my best role is that of The Operator - harnessing the tools and equipment that make visions come to life. Not to say that I have nothing to say, but my passion and priority as a creative is always towards realizing other peoples stories through technical know-how, precise and objective-based execution, and of course a sprinkle of high-fidelity seasoning from my personal artistic taste.
With a serious fixation on all things lights, camera, and colour since late 2019 and sporadic entries into the YouTube and live-streaming worlds over the past 14 years, I use a vast bank of information and kit to develop solutions and make the most of my time behind the camera, wholly dedicated to shaping the best images I can. A simple lover of being amidst the action on a production, you will find me immersed on a set at a level you will never see from me elsewhere.
